Mitchell's Journey Speaks to Sarepta Therapeutics
Today I shared the story of #mitchellsjourney with @sareptatherapeutics

The title of my address was “What Happens on the Other Side of Medicine.” It offered an unflinching, fly-on-wall view of what happens when we leave hospitals, when medicine fails us, and a rare look at the deep psychological toll a fatal disease exacts.

As I looked into the audience, I saw a level of sincerity, empathy and concern that was both heartwarming and inspiring. In the room were scientists, geneticists, researchers, and employees of all kind charged to move the needle with DMD. They broadcast the presentation globally. I told them they could film it and share it with those who missed it. My hope is the story of Mitch will contribute to the spirit of urgency for those working toward solutions.

This first photo is with the CEO. He wanted to meet me and express his personal concern in saving lives. I was moved by his sincerity and I believed him.

If we’re going to beat this disease it will be through a united front. It will be through advancing science without leaving our humanity behind. It will be accomplished through being better and faster ... from what I’ve seen, that is what Sarepta is trying to do. @ Sarepta Therapeutics
